Shuimohua

Shuimohua (水墨畫), also known as ink wash painting or literati painting is an East Asian type of brush painting of Chinese origin that uses black ink in various concentrations. Shuimohua painting mainly focuses on drawing only with the brush (毛筆Máobĭ) and ink.

Shuimohua is a bit difficult because you have to know how to properly use the brush and to master the techniques, you need to be very disciplined. Despite the difficulties, Shuimohua course has a very good instructor to teach you how to do it in a short amount of time.

It usually takes an hour to finish a painting. Hence, you finish the class by the end of the semester, you will have so many beautiful Shuimohua painting to show to your family and friends in your hometown.

Gongbi

Gongbi (工筆) is a careful realist technique in Chinese painting, the opposite of the interpretive and freely expressive xieyi (寫意sketching thoughts) style. Gongbi painting is more detailed and complicated. It takes a lot of time to finish one painting. Despite the complicatedness, Gongbi painting is very beautiful.

At the Gongbi course in BLCC, you will get a very kind and patient instructor to teach you how to do it. At first, the instructor will tell you to draw the sketch with a pencil before you can use the Maobi. The instructor will give you some paintings, such as birds, flower, and Chinese lady as samples. Then the instructor will ask you to trace the painting with a pencil and after that, you can use the Maobi and ink.
